Welcome 2012 – The 12 day challenge

January always holds so much potential for us.  We consider the person we were last year and resolve to discover the person we can be this year.  I heard somewhere that it is what you do for the first 12 days of the New Year that will predict what your year will be like.  I challenge each of you to take the 12-day challenge and change those bad habits.

We all make list for what we want to accomplish for the new year, but sometimes it can be daunting to look at that list and the 12 day challenge and the Christmas tree and presents that are still in your house and get everything done.  What I propose is that you pick one resolution and spend 12 days working on it until it becomes a good habit.  Then take the next thing on your list and use the next 12 days to work on that one.  Splitting your focus over all the different challenges that you present for yourself can cause you to lose focus and not get anything scratched off your list.

Most people want to lose weight for the New Year.  Here is an easy way to start.  Clean out your fridge, throw out the old Christmas cookies or donate them to your local homeless shelter.  Then resolve for the next 12 days to eat more greens with your meals.  Add walking 30 minutes daily to your next 12 days and increase that to more aerobic exercises the following 12 days.  But continue to challenge yourself every 12 days with a new goal so you don’t plateau.

Lets make this the year that we follow through on our goals and live happy healthier lives.
